"Rather be anywhere but here, Learn about William Shakespeare. Travel the world and find undiscovered lands, Change my plans for you again."
I'm on an adventure, folks! Two days ago, my sister Tegan and I caught a plane to the wild West coast of Canada. Upon arriving at the airport, we discovered our flight had been cancelled with no e-mail or text notifications to let us know beforehand (Thanks, AirCanada!) and had to reschedule. Luckily, we were able to get a flight only an hour later than the one we missed. Even though they were able to accommodate us on that flight, we sat on the tarmac for another hour and we knew were would be missing our connecting flight before we even took off. We sprinted to the next gate, a lo and behold we'd missed our flight. While things were looking a little red to me, Tegan kept her cool and managed to get us seats together on the next flight where we scored one of the exit seats... and leg room!! Our wonderful cousins picked us up at the airport and after fitting all five (yes, five) suitcases into their vehicle we were on our way.

In terms of musical plans, my mission right now is to work on writing and recording as much as I can. My YouTube channel leaves much to be desired and that is something I hope to change. I have also tossed around the idea of some Soundcloud recordings, as well as some other projects that will be amazing if they look as beautiful out in the world as inside my brain... Don't touch that dial and stay tuned... definitely LOTS more to come.
As I write this, the words of my own song "Shakespeare" come to mind. I wrote my song "Shakespeare" when I was 11 years old. At 11, I had many ideas about what it meant to be worldly, interesting, intelligent, etc.. Precocious and thirsty for words, I thought maybe reading Shakespeare and other great writers, and surrounding myself with other driven, forward-thinking people would make me feel "enough" or who I was "meant to be" or maybe just less alone. After spending thousands of dollars at University to drink up all those words, part of me just felt hungover and burnout. That said, I believe very strongly that knowledge is power and there were definitely many lessons learned throughout my 5 years at Uni, 4 different apartments, and 2 degrees. Now, as I write this, I am sitting in my cousin's apartment in Vancouver, looking out his open patio door towards the ocean and mountains (I know I'll make my Ontarian lovelies envious when I say there is no screen door required... no mosquitoes!). And while Vancouver may be an undiscovered land to me, my personal growth in the past few years tells me there are many lands yet to discover... cookie cutters and uniforms be gone!
Love, Jory xo
